The cheque is the easy part.
A donation is made in an office. Everything after it has to happen where people can see it, and it has to be your own people doing it, or the whole thing reads as an invoice.
A global technology company wanted one day of its programme to be about somebody else. We found a children’s home whose fence, garden and playground needed rebuilding, drew the plans, obtained the approvals, and brought the materials and one specialist to supervise. Everything else was done by the people who came. They arrived in the morning, and it was finished when they left.
Each of these also took one day
650 pine trees planted where a forest had burned.
700,000 square metres of beach and forest cleared, with eight benches and 26 permanent bins and recycling points left behind.
The garden of the village hall in Omodos, planted.
A Cyprus company marking its 80th year wanted the opposite of a day. Across that year it gave books to a library on international reading day, installed basketball equipment in a public park, and cooked for its own neighbourhood, with its own management at the grill. Every act carried the same line: 80 years, 80 acts of love and care. Almost all of it happened within a few streets of where the company started.
The only event we run where the guests do the work.
A milestone the company wants to mark outside its own walls. A day inside a longer programme that is about somewhere else. A cause the business already supports and has never made visible. A commitment the company has to report on as well as make. Something that runs across a whole year.
Tell us what you want to support and roughly when, and we’ll come back with something worth reading.
